About her art: Hélène Amram is a figurative painter living in Montreal. Her paintings are mostly portraits of people that she knows or has known. "It's difficult to put into words what I'm trying to depict in my artwork... I think it's better not to over-articulate what it means to try to capture a person's essence, their psychological character or the weight of their presence. All of these have a lot more to do with with the silent, subtle qualities that belong to the connections we have with people in our lives." - Hélène Amram
