How much would it cost to host your own website selling your own photos?

Re: selling photographs

not a huge amount I guess, but would anybody find you? If you are a well known photographer, no problem. If not and you have some good images to sell, then perhaps there is strength in numbers. If you are looking for an image for legitimate purposes, i.e. you will pay for useage, where do you search, the internet or a concentrated resource? The latter every time. As I understand it fotolibra has a high profile in professional photo buying market. If I wanted to sell images, that is the kind of place I would consider hanging out my wears. Not on a personal wensite... each to their own I guess.

Re: selling photographs

To sell anything online it takes a lot of work promoting your website. Submitting to search engines. Links. Not just the big boys but all the little search engines. I have done this for about an hour a day since 5-05 for my site. I now rank 4 pr on  google. I generate about 2000 hits a week, and I am selling stuff. I sell erotic figurines "very graphic" and pro build vintage model cars. It takes a bit of effort, but when you get some ranking, it continues to grow. The key is fresh content!!!!!! A blog is also a great way to get views. Pinging your blog to all the blog sites is like free advertising. Reciprocal links are invaluable also. I did not know zip about this 6 month ago. I honestly could not even turn on a computer a year ago. It just takes some study, and time in the evening. http://www.gonzosmodelcarsandfigures.net

Re: selling photographs

This is an extention, or update to my post about how to sell online, or get your website noticed. In that post dated 12-19-05 I stated I was recieving 2000 hits a week. I am now averaging 7000 hits per week. This is about three weeks later. I am telling you this works. I will be glad to guide anyone on how to build their traffic. There are certain key things to do. None of these thing cost a dime. If anyone is interested contact me. You will find my email at my website. http://www.gonzosmodelcarsandfigures.net

Re: selling photographs

Hi Smoothunit:

Why not just give us a brief summary of your ideas and suggestions here. I know about posting in directories, etc. But does "pinging your blog" bring you traffic? How exactly? Also, I am of the opinion that recipricol links are generally not very valuable. I tried it and have found them difficult to manage. AFter a time, some of the links have been taken down. Also I have heard that most search engines are wise to this and they recips have little value on page ranking....what are your thoughts??
